Scheduling tracker
What is under regulatory action, what is regulated, and what is currently clear — for every compound that matters in this category. We maintain this because the alternative is brands finding out from a customer.

How to use this
This is a monitoring summary, not legal advice and not a compliance determination. Entries reflect our understanding at the review date. Federal notices, state emergency rules, and local ordinances all move independently and quickly. Verify anything you are about to rely on against the primary source, and involve your counsel before making decisions about inventory or formulation.

How the category got here
Concentrated derivatives scale up
7-OH products move from niche to mainstream in the category. FDA issues warning letters to firms marketing them, citing claims about pain, withdrawal, and dependence.
States move first
Several states schedule 7-OH and related derivatives through emergency rulemaking, in some cases adding pseudoindoxyl and the MGM compounds at the same time.
Federal action
DEA files notices of intent to temporarily schedule 7-OH, mitragynine pseudoindoxyl, MGM-15, and MGM-16. The three compounds most commonly recommended as 7-OH replacements are named together.
Corydalis alkaloids unaffected
None of these actions reach corydalis alkaloids. They are a different structural family from a different plant, with no scheduling history for a derivative rule to attach to. Why that matters structurally.
Verifying an entry yourself
- Federal scheduling — DEA's consolidated lists of scheduling actions, controlled substances and regulated chemicals, and the Federal Register for notices and orders.
- The schedules themselves — 21 C.F.R. Part 1308.
- State scheduling — your state attorney general and your state's controlled substances schedule. Emergency rules are easy to miss and often are not reflected in secondary sources for weeks.
- State kratom statutes — your legislature's statute database, plus the implementing agency for rules. Our state page.
